Sunday Head of the Charles team listings – times

It’s an annual rite of passage for many high school rowing teams, the trip to and through Boston via the Charles River.
Each shell’s coxswain will face their biggest challenge, passing, calling a Power 10 and negotiating five bridges and turns along the way.

Head of the Housatonic schedule and bow #s

More than 280 New York State entries, both college and scholastic will be heading to Shelton, Connecticut for the 2018 installment of the Head of the Housatonic.
The weather forecast is ideal, sunny, low humidity with a light breeze and temperatures in the 60s.

Row America Rye, Saugatuck take trophies at Head of the Riverfront

Row America Rye captured seven medals Saturday at the 20th annual Head of the Riverfront Regatta at Riverside Park in Hartford, Conn. hosted by Riverfront Recapture.

Tne New York State Rowing entry also took home three trophies from the event: The Discover RE Cup in the men’s 1st Junior 4+; the Greater Hartford Jaycees Bowl in the men’s 1st Junior 8+ and the Marfuggi Points Award going to Row America Rye.

Saugatuck Rowing Club also brought home medals for its five first-place finishes Saturday and also captured three trophies – the Guzman Bowl in the women’s 1st Junior 8+; the Reige Plate to the men’s junior novice 8+ and the Mowell Trophy in the women’s junior novice 8+.

Pelham Community Rowing Association claimed four medals on the day Saturday with Niskayuna Rowing also coming away with one medal.

SRAA New York Rowing results

New York State Scholastic Rowing Association had 82 entries in this weekend’s Scholastic Rowing Association of America national championship regatta with 36 of those entries advancing to Saturday’s championship finals.

18 of those entries earned medals Saturday afternoon – Congrats to all.

With temperatures nearing 90 degrees at Camden, NJ the rowing will be fast, furious and possibly condensed as what’s an SRAA in New Jersey without the threat of thunderstorms?

There is a scheduled break from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. so stay tuned as the 6 a.m. hourly has thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m.

It’s Coaches Appreciation Day – Show ’em some love!

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association has created its first-ever Coaches Appreciation Day today, a day athletes are encouraged to thank their coaches who have had an impact on their high school careers.

NYS Championships as seen on NBC-Albany WNYT

Beautiful weather for Mother’s Day not only brought out fast times from the competitors on Fish Creek, but Ashley Miller from WNYT in Albany was kind enough to drop by and grab some video for the nightly sportscast on NBC affiliate WNYT.

Saratoga Rowing nets 22 medals at states

The Saratoga Rowing Association boys lightweight four of coxswain Ava Carollo, Evan Kimble, Benjamin Weatherwax , Soren Mercer and Thomas Burke row on Fish Creek prior to the NYSSRA championship regatta. They rowed to a bronze medal.
Last year Saratoga Rowing captured 18 medals and executive director Eric Catalano said that it may be hard to top that number, but the organization found a way, winning 22 medals at the New York State Scholastic Rowing Association regatta on Fish Creek.
